A Little About Myself. Hello! My name is Katie Sawyer and I have been in the Piner-Olivet district for 9 years now. I began as a student teacher, then a long-term substitute, and taught 6th grade for three years at Jack London. This will be my fourth year teaching 8th grade at POCS and I am excited for another year. I had a busy summer spending time with family, friends, and most importantly, my 8 month old daughter, Savannah. This year I will be taking some time to be present with my daughter and will be job sharing with Trevor Wofford. I will be teaching Monday, Tuesday, and every other Wednesday. Mr. Wofford will be teaching every other Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. He is a previous POCS alumni and has worked at POCS as a Program Assistant in the past. I'm excited to work with Mr. Wofford this year as he is a wealth of knowledge and passionate about working with students, like myself.
This is such a pivotal year for students as they prepare for high school and I cannot wait to be a part of their experience here at POCS. I attended Sonoma State for my BA in Psychology. My heart was always pulling me in the direction of education so I went back to school at the University of San Francisco for my Multiple-Subject Credential and Masters in Education. I enjoy learning alongside my students and experiencing their growth and development throughout the school year. I look forward to working with each of you this year!
