POCS Parents

POCS Parent's Club

POCS Parents meet the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:00 PM
POCS asks that parents attend at least 6 Parent Club meetings during the year and this goes towards your parent hours too! These meetings keep you informed, build relationships with staff and other parents, and give you an opportunity to help decide what the group does.
Meeting Dates:
October 15th, November 19th, December 17th, January 21st, February 18th, MONDAY March 9th, April 21st, May 19th

Minutes POCS Parent Group
POCS Library  Tuesday, August 20, 2019 6:00 p.m.
Call to Order: Meeting called to order at 6:01 Parents in Attendance: Katie Tamayo, Leslie Fonseca, Jane Missakian, Kimbra Wilson, Teika Wilbert, Maria Landa, Darla Pimlott, Germain Parra, Hung Tang, Michael Montedaro, Shona Johnson, Rebecca Pozzi, Mayra Sanchez, Jennifer Fraga, Sarah Lampenfeld, Cathy Scott, Stacie Hatfield and Jessica Way. POCS Staff in Attendance: Kirsten Sanft
Secretary’s Report: Tabled for the September POCS Parent meeting. Treasurers Report: The group review expenditures for the last school year and projected income and expenses for our 2019-2020 school year. Allocation request for $1500 to help offset costs for the ropes course and swim trip. The group was in agreement that with all the added expenses of back to school, this would be a great help to families. A motion was made and seconded to allocate $1500 to offset costs of the ropes course and skim trip. The motion carried.
Principals Report: Kirsten Sanft introduced herself as our new Principal. We’ve had a great start to the new year. POCS is fully staffed with a new aide and the addition of Mr. Finnegan replacing Mr. Jordan for 8th grade math and science. Current enrollment is 206 students.
POCS Parent Officer Nominations: Current open positions for Vice President and Co-Volunteer Coordinator were explained to the group. Darla Pimlott was nominated as CoVolunteer Coordinator and voting will be conducted at our September meeting. Vice Presidency remains vacant.
Committees Signups: Graduation, 8th Grade Dinner/Dance, Teacher Appreciation and Fundraising Committees were explained to the group and signup sheets were made available.
Fundraising suggestions - paint night, Hen house Dine and Donate. Volunteers needed for Wikiup Swim trip on Friday, September 6 th .
Back to School Night: POCS parents will have a table with our committee and activities signup sheets. Signup Genius: Signup Genius is a program we used at the end of last school year to help coordinate our volunteer activity signups. We are currently using the free version but would like to upgrade to utilize more features of the program. Gold level was recommended the cost would be $269.89 for the year. A motion was made and seconded to approve the cost of the gold level of service. The motion carried. It was suggested that we try to get a month’s free trial for the gold level service prior to purchasing.
Additional Discussion: Principals request – Portrait of a Graduate committee with Sonoma County. Compiling a profile of what a high school graduate should look like. The group agreed that we would be interested in having the committee at one of our parent meetings. High School presentations will happen at our October meeting.
​Each month we will have a POCS teacher and students present to our parent meeting and students will give a small presentation. Adjournment: Meeting adjourned at 6:50
